Why Get Married in Rye?

I am very lucky to live just outside Rye in East Sussex, in the countryside with lots of access for foraging foliage and space for growing flowers, which is very important to me and my wedding floristry business.

Picturesque Rye

Rye has become a popular town to get married in with with its cobbled streets, medieval buildings, and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The charming and romantic atmosphere of Rye makes it a popular choice for couples looking for a beautiful backdrop for their wedding.

As much as I love filling a marquee with lots of flowers and foliage in the summer months, not everyone has the space to do this, and wedding venues provide the perfect alternative, often accommodating guests as well as providing ceremonies and receptions, and weddings all year round.

Rye offers a range of unique wedding venues, including historic hotels, country houses, and charming barns. These venues provide couples with a variety of options to suit their personal style and preferences.

Rye is also located near the coast, offering couples the opportunity to have a beach wedding or incorporate coastal elements into their special day. The nearby Camber Sands beach is a popular spot for wedding photos and provides a beautiful backdrop for outdoor ceremonies.

I’m going to write about three of my favourite venues that I provide wedding flowers for in or near Rye, all very different but all exceptional in what they do.

The Ballroom at The George in Rye

The first venue I am going to tell you about is the stylish George in Rye, situated in the heart of the High Street. It has a stunning Ballroom, which speaks for itself, elegant and stylish with its Degournay wallpaper, a pair of large glass chandeliers, antiqued mirrors above marble mantlepieces opposite huge bay windows and even a minstrels gallery. The George is in close proximity to St Mary’s Church and the Town Hall where couples can choose to get married, you can also get married at the George itself, in the court yard when the weather is good or in the Ballroom itself. Weddings at the George are a very well organised machine, the event organiser Anna is outstanding and goes above an beyond to make your wedding incredible. I love working at this venue, the vibe is fantastic and I love how, visitors and locals enjoy watching and congratulating Couples that often get photographed in front of The George.

Another amazing venue which is just outside Rye, is The Cherry Barn, near Peasmarsh. The Cherry Barn is situated on a working farm and surrounded by orchards, the barn itself is restored to a very high standard, a beautiful rustic blank canvas that you can decorate and furnish to your own taste. Mel owns and runs the Cherry Barn, and has lists of recommended suppliers to suit every style. Some couples get married in the nearby Peasmarsh Church, however you can also get married at the Cherry Barn itself or even in the surrounding meadows. It’s a wonderful party barn and Mel is a fantastic host.

The third venue is the Gallivant, in Camber situated opposite the sand dunes, with direct access to the beach. With modern stylish interiors and beautiful garden areas, giving a very comfortable cool coastal vibe.

Rye is well-connected to major transportation routes, making it easily accessible for both local and out-of-town guests. The town has good rail and road links. I hope that you find this information useful and if you are thinking about getting married in Rye, please get in touch, we can talk wedding flowers
